Good southern restaurant with awesomely low prices. Atmosphere isn’t bad but could use some sprucing. Service average.

Picked up breakfast this morning on our way back from the downtown farmer’s market. We each had a biscuit and a hashbrown. Little did we know, the biscuits are the size of your head, so neither one of us could finish both! Everything was hot and the biscuits seemed to be homemade. The hashbrown was a little greasy, but no more than it would’ve been at Bojangles/McDonald’s/etc. It was good – I would definitely buy breakfast biscuits at the creamery again!

Let me start off by saying that my uncle Earl used to manage/own the Creamery. This is another institution that has been around since I was a kid. I have always enjoyed their burgers (when I was a boy I used to get all the cheeseburgers I could eat!). The service is always fast and the ladies are southern sweethearts! The prices are decent, a little more than McDonald’s but you pay for what you get and in my opinion (and anyone with half a brain) you get much more at the Creamery than you could imagine getting at some chain fast food place! The place has not changed in over 20 years and I LOVE that! Lastly the milkshakes are to die for, watch out Cook-Out.

I have been eager to try this place since hearing about it several months ago. This Saturday my family and I happened to be passing by and thought this would be a great opportunity to stop in for a milkshake!
We were expecting an establishment with the name “Creamery” to specialize in ice cream, sundaes, and milkshakes and malts. We expected them to have top-quality ice cream, available in several tantalizing flavors, with a wide variety of milkshakes. However, our expectations were not to be met.
The Creamery’s ice cream slection consists only of soft serve Vanilla, Chocolate, and Vanilla/Chocolate swirl. My son ordered a simple dish of vanilla. He didn’t seem terribly enthusiastic, so I tasted it. I now share his lack of enthusiasm. My wife and I shared a shake (they don’t make malts!). It was unremarkable. My other son ordered a peanut butter shake. His was the best of the bunch, but still not worth driving to the other side of town for.
I really, truly was hoping to find that the Creamery would be a beacon of ice cream luring me to the Southeast side of Wilson every week. But this apparently is not to be. If I want fantastic hard ice cream, I can visit the Bailey Cafe in 5 minutes. If I am looking for a wide variety of interesting shakes, Cookout is the place to go (and they don’t charge you extra for adding more than one flavor to it!). The Creamery will have to try a little harder if they want to keep up.
