Why I Love This Recipe

Pulled pork sliders are one of my favorite go-to meals for gatherings because they are easy to make ahead, the crockpot does all the work. They are perfect for a crowd, whether it’s a game day party or a casual get-together, everyone loves these. They are also kid-friendly, even toddlers and babies can enjoy the shredded pork.

Ingredients

For the Pulled Pork

  • 3-4 lbs pork shoulder (boneless or bone-in)

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 1 cup Kinder’s Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce (plus more for serving)

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Sliders

  • 12 Hawaiian slider buns

  • Extra BBQ sauce (optional)

  • Coleslaw (for topping)

  • Sliced dill pickles (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pork by trimming any excess fat from the pork shoulder. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder (if using), salt, and black pepper. Rub the seasoning all over the pork.

  2. Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker. Set the pork on top and pour in apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, and 1/2 cup of Kinder’s Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours.

  3. Once tender, remove the pork and shred it with two forks. Skim off excess fat from the cooking liquid, then return the shredded pork to the slow cooker. Stir in additional BBQ sauce to taste.

  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place slider buns on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes until warm and lightly crisp.

  5. Pile shredded pork onto each bun and drizzle with extra BBQ sauce. Top with coleslaw and sliced dill pickles for a tangy crunch.

  6. These sliders are best enjoyed warm, making them the perfect make-ahead meal for entertaining.

Notes

  1. Gluten-Free: Serve the pulled pork on gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps.

  2. Dairy-Free: The pulled pork itself is naturally dairy-free, but opt for a dairy-free coleslaw dressing.

  3. Low-Sugar: Reduce or omit the brown sugar in the seasoning mix and choose a low-sugar or unsweetened BBQ sauce.

  4. Homemade Coleslaw Option: Making coleslaw from scratch is really easy, and it allows you to make enough for a large crowd. If your guests love coleslaw, they may even want extra as a side dish. Check out my homemade coleslaw recipe here.
