Why I Love This Recipe
This is my no-fuss, go-to cocktail when I’ve got a lemon on the counter and want something bright and balanced. It’s tart, a little sweet, and lets the whiskey shine.
Ingredients
2 oz whiskey or bourbon
1 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about half a lemon)
¾ oz maple syrup (or simple syrup, if preferred)
Lemon wheel, for garnish
Optional: sprig of mint or basil
Instructions
Fill a shaker with ice. Add whiskey, lemon juice, and maple syrup.
Shake well, about 15 seconds, until chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a lemon wheel and herbs, if using.
Notes
No club soda here—just clean, tart, and smooth.
You can batch this easily for a group. Stick to the same ratio.
