A lighter take on the classic margarita—no sugary mix, no extras. Just fresh, clean ingredients that let the tequila and lime shine. It’s crisp, refreshing, and easy to whip up for a quick happy hour at home.
Ingredients
2 oz silver tequila
1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
1 oz orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
1 teaspoon light agave nectar (optional, to taste)
Ice
Salt for rim (optional)
Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Glass
Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass.
Dip the rim into salt (optional).
Mix the Margarita
Fill a shaker with ice.
Add tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave.
Shake well until chilled (about 15 seconds).
Serve
Strain into the prepared glass over ice.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For an even lighter version, skip the agave and add a splash of sparkling water.
Use fresh lime juice—it makes all the difference.
