Why I Love This Recipe
It’s classic, simple, and just feels a little fancy—even if you're sipping it barefoot in the kitchen. I love the crisp lemon twist because it brightens the whole drink without overpowering it. It’s my go-to when I want something clean and not too sweet.
Ingredients
2 1/2 oz gin (or vodka, if preferred)
1/2 oz dry vermouth
Ice
Lemon peel, for garnish
Instructions
Chill the glass: Pop a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water while you prep.
Mix: In a mixing glass, combine gin (or vodka) and vermouth with ice. Stir (or shake, if you like it colder and cloudier) for about 30 seconds.
Strain: Discard the ice or water from your martini glass. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.
Add the twist: Hold a strip of lemon peel over the drink and twist it to release the oils. Rub it around the rim, then drop it in.
Notes
Want it extra dry? Use less vermouth—just a rinse or none at all.
Want it dirty? Add a splash of olive brine and swap the lemon twist for an olive.
